Dover Children's Home Annual BOWLATHON
Despite the power outage, the February 28th Dover Children’s Home Bowl-a-thon was a huge success. Over 240 people filled 62 lanes during the event. Over $22,200 of much needed funds were raised for our 117 year old Home by some amazing and generous bowlers and donors. Thank you to everyone who gave their time and money. The funds collected will be directly and thoughtfully applied to the Home’s most critical operating costs (i.e. heat, food, gas, electricity).
Congratulations to First Parish Church for once again winning first place for fundraising with a tremendous $1521. NewGround came in at second place at $1363 and Dover High School came in third with $1118.
A huge thank you to our wonderful event underwriters and supporters: Liberty Mutual Foundation, Margaritas, Dover Bowl, and WTSN/The Bay. We’d also like to thank both Waste Management for donating two premium club seats to a Bruins game and WTSN/The Bay for donating Loon Mountain Ski passes for the silent auction. We hope everyone had a great time. Join us again for this fun event again next year.
Music and Arts Festival
The July 25th Music and Arts Festival was a fun-filled day of music, arts, and entertainment, raising a staggering $6500 for the Dover Children's Home. This child, teen, and family-friendly festival was designed to bring the community together for a wide array of activities and entertainment while showcasing over 40 local merchants and artisans. The event included inflatable carnival rides by Blast Party Rental, several food vendors, games, activities, face painting, caricature drawings, psychic readings, a video gaming tent by Galaxy Gaming, and much, much more. Interactive displays by Dover Youth to Youth and the Dover Police and Fire Departments, including the seat belt convincer, a fingerprinting station, a fire truck, an ambulance, and a police cruiser were also available. Local artisans, many from One Washington Center, displayed and sold artwork.
The backdrop of the festival were ten fantastic local bands that played throughout the day including Ralph’s House of Tone All Star Band; Anthony Fiandaca, Approaching the Fall, Two Sided Season; Swamp Yankee; The Lower Village People; Speed of Film; Scott Barnett; Funkfoot; Forging Reverie; and Monkey Bar. To purchase a compilation CD featuring the bands that performed at the event,
